#100days100scenes: Loud Patriotism or Psychological Warfare

While its true that there were many heroic acts committed by Indian soldiers in saving our borders, Indian movies will add cinematic liberty in ample measure to 10x their heroism. This is best exemplified in a movie called Border. There is nothing subtle when Sunny Deol plays an army officer in the Punjab Regiment. His biggest weapon is not just the ability to inflict damage in the enemy camp but also the psychological warfare to literally spam their ears and minds with high decibel military abuses.

These images show what Sunny Deol can do

1.  Signal ' cut the crap '

2. Out shout the opposition if they still dont get it

3. Remove a handpump to show strength if they still dont get it .. and after that he is unstoppable

Border was made by the veteran of war movies JP Dutta and his fondness for the arid sand dunes resulted in a battle hardened movie. Based on the Battle of Longewala during the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971 , the movie carried the machismo of the win where India could have annexed Pakistan all the way till Karachi. And machismo in India is one man - Sunny Deol. Playing an author backed role of Major Kuldip Singh Chandpuri of the Punjab Regiment , the Param Vir Chakra winner who inspired his 100 odd men to take on an advancing Pakistan regiment of 2000 , Sunny Deol was in the form of his life.

After hearing many stories of the valiant military forces during my trip to Ladakh, there is a time when a soldier is propelled by an unimaginable surge to do something not prescribed in the books of battle. Like climbing a mountain from the reverse on a steep incline like the phenomenal Capt Vikram Batra  or pouncing from the front to do a hand to hand fight with a heavily armed opposition soldier, such manoeuvres are a function of nerves of steel, valour and that borderline craziness/ aggression.

In this scene, Sunny Deol walks that thin line on the Border !
